Ever find yourself in Kits with a big craving for sweets? Satisfy it with a visit to Big City Cupcakes on 4th Avenue.

The family and I were dining at Simpatico and decided to skip dessert and head a few doors down to Big City Cupcakes. Ironically, the evening was really hot so all of us opted for some ice cream. My husband and kids all opted for a mint chocolate chip variety, while I chose a mocha fudge type.

But of course, you can’t go into a place like Big City Cupcakes without leaving with a box of cupcakes. Their cupcakes make a perfect hostess gift and I wanted to bring something special for my sister who was throwing a baby shower for me later that weekend.

In addition to the regular selection, Big City Cupcakes also has a premium option, which include a filling inside. I asked them to just pick an assortment – and they chose well, including a delicious chocolate covered strawberry cupcake, a chocolate cupcake topped with a strawberry butter cream and chocolate shavings, and a snowball, a vanilla cucake topped with coconut butter cream and coconut.

The result? A massive hit. At my sister’s house, kids and adults alike could barely wait for the end of lunch before tearing into the box. If you’re serving kids, be sure to cut the cupcakes in half, which means more selection to be had for all. The six cupcakes were more than enough for three adults, two older kids and three younger ones.

Two kiddie cones, two adult cones and a box of three premium cupcakes and three regular ones cost around $30.
