Bugaboo Bee Stroller Review
Vancouver moms considering the Bugaboo Bee stroller (especially as a secondhand purchase) should be aware that there has been a recall of Bugaboo Bee strollers sold between August 2007 and April 2009. According to Consumer Reports, the affected strollers have “the item code 580210 on a label on the back of the seat and item code 50100 on a label on the plastic support under the seat.” The recall issue had to do with the brakes failing, obviously a critical safety concern.
Pre-recall, parents seemed very happy with the Bugaboo Bee stroller, many giving it rave reviews for its comfort, convenience, and overall performance. The seat is reversible, allowing the child to face outward to see the world, or inward in order to practice early conversational skills with mom or dad. A spacious under seat basket, water-resistant canopy, and beautiful bright colors round out the Bugaboo Bee’s buzz-worthy qualities. Its handlebar is suitable for taller parents, and it maneuvers well in tight spaces. Although it folds well, some parents find the mechanism a little tricky.
Assuming the brake issues are resolved, a Bugaboo Bee is a honey of a stroller, despite a few flaws. Brake failure is a deal breaker, though; thankfully, Bugaboo is offering free repair kits for affected strollers.
