“Conventional cotton crops account for approximately 25% of the world’s insecticide use and 10% of the world’s pesticide use,” says Jillian Hachlaf, owner and designer of Snug as a Bug Organic Baby Bedding, a company that designs and makes modern organic baby bedding and accessories. “That’s a lot!”

Jillian worked as a legal secretary and makeup artist prior to starting her company. When her second son was born, she couldn’t find any printed organic crib bedding that was made in Canada. “By using organic cotton and water-based dyes, I am trying to reduce the amount of chemicals that go into our soil and air.” Stylish moms concerned about the environment would love that Snug as a Bug’s entire product line is designed, printed and made in the Lower Mainland.

Founded four years ago, Snug as a Bug Organic Baby Bedding designs and makes crib duvet covers, blankets, fitted crib sheets, fitted cradle and change table sheets, sleep sacks and burp cloths. The duvet covers and blankets are in gorgeously vibrant graphic prints. Crib sheets with fun, fresh coordinating colours. While the products have been pre-shrunk and can be washed in warm water and tumble-dried, wash in cold water and hang dry to ensure that they don’t shrink.

But being fresh and modern isn’t the line’s only benefit – all of the products are organic and natural. Jillian has spent countless hours of research and has gone to a great deal of care to ensure that her products are as environmentally sound as possible. Check out her FAQ page to find out more.
