We’re talking about Earth Day all month long on VancouverMom.ca, and this week we’re sharing some of our reader’s earth-friendly green shopping picks. If you want to green your life, or just cut down on your plastic bag costs, we’ve got you covered. Today, we’re sharing your favourite reusable items.

Green Shopping: Reusables

Reuse is one of the three R’s for a reason. When you use something again, you’re reducing the amount of resources you consume, and saving it from the landfill. Here’s our green shopping guide for reusable items.

  • Contributor Michelle Carchrae recommends stainless steel items from Vancouver company Onyx. She says they carry, “Excellent ice pop molds, waterproof lunch containers and stainless steel ice cube trays.”
  • On Twitter Raspberry Kids also gave Onyx the thumbs-up for their stainless steel straws.
  • Raspberry Kids has many more reusable items they recommend, saying, “So many! Lunchskins, Goodbyns, Wean Green, Itzy Ritzy, Kinderville, flip&tumble, Klean Kanteen.”
  • On Twitter Yaya Baby Boutique shared one of their top picks, “Gogobags reusable lunch bags.”
  • On Twitter Jen Arbo said that she really likes Care Bags reusable produce bags for shopping.
  • On Facebook Britt Baxter-Bellas recommends Sigg water bottles.
  • Britt also gives her stamp of approval to Envirosax reusable bags, saying, “They wash so well!”
  • Also on Facebook, Happy Baby Daily Needs Online Store suggests, “Ore Good Lunch Snack Sack – no more wasteful plastic bags.”
  • Our Content Manager Amber Strocel shared her love of reusable cloth napkins. “In the long run, cloth napkins are way cheaper, plus they add a fun touch to dinner.”
  • Amber also loves Beatrix NY lunch boxes. “The designs are so fun, my kids love them. Plus they’re free of BPA, PVC, phthalates and lead, so I know their food is safe.”
