Made in Vancouver: Sweet Dreams and Flying Machines Sleep Sack

Michelle Gadd reviews a made in Vancouver sleep sack.

Don’t Mummyify Me, Mom!

Almost every mom I know swears that their infant started sleeping better once they were safely nested in a little sleep sack. Not my babies. Both my boys kicked off swaddle blankets like I was trying to mummify them. When I switched to sleep sack they seemed to think it was another trick to keep them immobile. (Well, it kind of was.) When I was asked to review a sleep sack by Vancouver-based sleepwear company Sweet Dreams and Flying Machines, I saw it as an opportunity to test if my boys were over their fear of entrapment.

Little Dreamer Sleep Sack

The company sent me their Little Dreamer sleep sack, perfect for mild weather and warmer rooms. It arrived in a cute little package, a symbol of the love and care Sweet Dreams and Flying Machines puts into their product. The sack was initially meant for my seven month old (who is ironically called Jet for short) although it was sized nine months to two years. The sack was ginormous, but a perfect fit for my three year old, Levi.

Levi was thrilled to try the sleep sack on, and even more excited to realize he could walk around in it because of the snap options allowing the sack to be shortened. What impressed me most about the design was that the sack could be transferred to a car seat or stroller because of it’s five-point harness flap. Right now Levi sleeps with a down blanket, which will become like a sweat lodge in the summer time, so the lighter Little Dreamer sleep sack will be a perfect way to keep him comfortable but not overheated as temperatures rise. The only down side I saw to the Little Dreamer was that the material was pure white, bound to be covered in stains within a short time.

Levi now clearly understands the difference between mommy trying to mummify him, and mommy attempting to keep him cozy. My next challenge will be to convince Jet to take off for La La Land in a Sweet Dreams and Flying Machines sleep sack!
