Yoga Classes for Kids at Joie de Vivre

Many Vancouver moms practice yoga – maybe not as often as they’d like but at least once in a while. We know all the benefits, and we own at least one pair of yoga pants. But what about our kids? Some little ones see their parents doing yoga and want to join in. Some parents want their kids to experience the benefits of yoga. But kids yoga classes aren’t always easy to find, even in a city like Vancouver. If you’re on the hunt for a class for your little one, you may want to check out Joie de Vivre Yoga.
Vancouver Yoga Classes for Kids
Starting next week, Joie de Vivre is offering classes for kids aged three to twelve. Each week your kids will explore a different theme in the yoga classes. They’ll also incorporate the arts and Rhythmic Movement techniques, to provide a holistic, fun environment for children to explore and challenge themselves. In the process, they’ll unleash peace, joy and creativity.
Joie de Vivre’s owner Katie Keating has some serious teaching chops: she’s currently working towards her Masters in Education. She has also audited the Waldorf program in Orgeon, and completed her Rainbow Kids Yoga Certfication and Rhythmic Movement training. She is an avid believer in holistic learning experiences, and is sharing that passion with Vancouver families. If you’re looking for yoga classes for your kids, it’s unlikely you’ll find a more experienced teacher.
Learn Lifelong Skills
Katie says, “Yoga for children is a wonderful opportunity to help them learn skills they can use throughout their lives – healthy coping techniques, understanding and communication skills, positive ways to approach unknowns, appreciating the moment, working together, and respecting ourselves and our dreams.” Of course, that’s not all, though. Katie says there are also many known physical, intellectual, and emotional benefits. She adds, “Practicing as a family and as a community provides a chance to learn something new from each other, while reinforcing elements we can carry into our daily lives together to share with the world!”
Discovering Yogis for three to five year olds runs Wednesday afternoons at Exhale at 1083 Cambie Street. Rising Yogis for kids aged six to twelve runs on Tuesday afternoons at the Beaumont, at 315 West 5th. Both sets of yoga classes start next week. For more information, visit Joie de Vivre online.
