In a city like Vancouver, where we all spend as much time outside as possible, many people choose to celebrate birthdays outdoors. Where to do it? We have collected nine great Vancouver outdoor birthday party venues.

Bear Creek Park Train and Mini Golf

Celebrate at Bear Creek Park in Surrey. Up to 20 people – which can be a mix of kids and adults – will enjoy a two hour party, including a train ride and a round of mini golf, or two train rides. The mini golf course is considered to be “natural,” with its 18 holes meandering through tall trees.

Burnaby Village Museum

Enjoy a Vancouver outdoor birthday party 1920s style at Burnaby Village Museum. Party packages for 10 children include lunch, two rides on the 1912 Parker Carousel, and all the activities offered to the public at the museum. Parties are available during regular hours of operation, from early May to mid-September, and over the Christmas season and Spring Break. A bonus is that while much of the museum is outdoors, there are indoor exhibits to retreat to if the weather is less than balmy.

Fort Langley National Historical Site

Fort Langley National Historical Site offers some truly unique Metro Vancouver outdoor birthday party options. Their oTENTik sleepover birthday parties are available from mid-May to Labour Day, and feature activities like twilight hide-and-seek inside the fort and a bonfire before bedding down. If a sleepover isn’t your style or your child’s birthday falls outside of the summer months, they offer gold fever, high tea and archaeology adventure parties as well. All parties include all-day site admission and an optional bonfire add-on, and they’re available weekends year-round.

Who doesn’t love Maplewood Farm in North Vancouver? It’s a great place to get outside and experience farm life with kids at any time of year, and with their new multi-purpose room it’s much more comfortable when it’s cold outside. Party packages for eight children offer the use of the room, and optional add-ons like birdseed, themes, food and pony rides. Keep in mind, though, that admission rates are not included in the party pricing – that’s extra.

Playland

Few things say ‘summer in Vancouver’ quite like Playland, which makes this an option worth considering for a summer birthday, especially if your child has a daredevil streak. Packages include a one day PlayPass and food for each participant. You can also get special rates on midway games and treats. Playland is open May through September.

When you’re considering Vancouver outdoor birthday party venues, you can’t overlook Vancouver’s favourite park. There’s plenty of space to run and play in the great outdoors. You can book a picnic shelter near the miniature train or Ceperley/Second Beach.
