Favourite Things: April Rommel of Tumblewoods Indoor Playground
April Rommel lives and works in Squamish. She was inspired to start her business over five years ago, before she was planning on having a second child. There was little or nothing she could do with her little one at the time outside of registered programs, and those didn’t work for her because her child was a napper. She just really just wanted a place to go where she could drop in on my her time, so Tumblewoods Indoor Playground was born. We caught up with April recently, to find out about some of her favourite things for herself, her family and her business.
What are your favourite things for your kids?
I love taking them skiing, it’s so cool now that our whole family can go up the mountain together!
What’s your favourite thing for you?
I love crawling into my pajamas and bed at the end of a long day to unwind.
What’s your favourite thing for work?
Technology – I love computers and the ability to have access to everything, everywhere!
What’s your favourite place in Vancouver?
Well – I live and work in Squamish, so I don’t get to the city very often. When I do I love to explore places like Yaletown and Granville Island.
What’s your favourite birthday gift idea?
My favourite things are gifts that aren’t toys. I like my kids to give movie passes, disposable cameras (plus an album and gift card to get photos developed), art supplies or books.
What’s your favourite Vancouver restaurant?
One of the last fantastic meals I remember was at a little place in Gastown called Cobre.
What’s your favourite kids’ book?
Frank was a Monster who wanted to Dance
