Jacqueline Long’s Favourite Things

Both of Jacqueline Long‘s grandmothers let her help in the kitchen when she was a child, doing anything from peeling carrots to making cinnamon rolls from scratch. Baking was one of her favourite pastimes with them, and it has continued to be an activity that brings joy into her life.

After having twins and choosing to stay home full time with them,  Jackie wanted to link her passion for baking with something that could provide income – and the iBakery was born. She loves creating treats for people and seeing the joy that homemade food can bring to people’s lives.

Favourite Thing For Your Kids

We love our Music Together Phoenix Song classes where we get to dance and sing along with Anna, and recently we have started at Phoenix Gymnastics at the St. James Community Centre where my kids are really enjoying bouncing and tumbling.

Favourite Thing For You

Getting a manicure at Ruby Nails. The staff are always smiling and I leave relaxed with pretty pink nails.

Favourite Thing For Work

My KitchenAid Stand Mixer. This beauty has been a lifesaver to me! I love how it enables me to do more than one thing at a time in the kitchen.

Favourite Thing in Vancouver

With kids, I love taking slow walks down to Jericho Beach as a family where we explore every nook & cranny we come across – nature is SO amazing, especially when you are seeing it through new eyes. Without kids, right now it is Spool of Thread’s sewing lounge. I am a novice and am loving learning the craft.

Favourite Birthday Gift Idea

For kids we like to purchase a book that we have truly enjoyed, such as The Gruffalo or 1001 Things to Spot, or Little Blue Truck. Our family loves to read together so we want to share our favourites with our friends. For our adult friends I like to give a gift that is helpful but that won’t add to the clutter. Things like homemade cards, a cookbook (Barefoot Contessa is one of my favourites), or perhaps a night of babysitting.

Favourite Kids Book

I am a Bunny by Richard Scarry. This book has classic, simple art with a cute storyline. We love it so much it became the theme of my twins’ second birthday.

Favourite Restaurant

With kids, Rocky Mountain Flatbread Company. They have the best play kitchen for the kids, the food is healthy and delicious and the staff is wonderful. Without, Teahouse in Stanley Park, mostly for the special anniversary memories I have with my husband. The view is spectacular, the food is delicious, and the atmosphere is so romantic.
