Lilli’Q has the Kid-Friendly Quotient

Yaletown moms, sorry to let all the other Vancouver moms in on your new gem Lilli’Q Cafe and Playhouse. The new family friendly cafe is not only welcoming for moms, their strollers and their little wee ones – it was designed specifically for them. “My daughter is very active and friendly and I hated to always tell her ‘no’ in other cafes,” says Lill’Q owner Jamie Knight. “Now she has a place where she is comfortable and can socialize as well.”

As soon as you walk into Lilli’Q, you know that it’s a place meant for children and their parents. The atmosphere is casual and friendly. Moms are comfortable breastfeeding as they chat with other moms, sip their bubble teas or yummy mochas, and watch their children play around in a kids area well stocked with toys for toddlers to preschoolers. There is ample room for strollers.

Additional seating is available upstairs. As Jamie tours me around the cafe, she tells me that they moved the tables aside to accommodate a yoga class – just one of several events that Lilli’Q has planned. February is already jam-packed with sessions with Melanie Osmak of Fit for 2, who will be facilitating sessions on prenatal fitness and Tummies 4 Mommies and Infant Massage. Recently, Lill’Q along with Klik Photographic hosted a fundraiser and raised over $2,000 for Haiti.

“We are always looking into donating our space for use for events with good causes,” says Jamie, who recently donated the use of their space to La Salle School of Arts’ students for their grad show.

“We try to support our local community wherever possible,” says Jamie, who carries as many locally made products as she can.

And what a perfect community for Lilli’Q to call home. “Yaletown is a great neighborhood filled with young families,” says Jamie. “It’s the perfect fit.”
