A few weeks ago I attended an event dressed head to toe in black: black dress, tights, boots, and leather jacket. I felt confident that I would not experience a wardrobe malfunction dressed in my monochrome, flattering, uncomplicated assemble. The comfort I found in wearing all black was a startling revelation to me. For the last few years I’ve been experimenting with prints and sporting my share of bright bottoms. It was fun to embrace these trends until I realized that my excitement about the looks I was creating was hindered whenever I walked into an event and suddenly felt self-conscious and uncomfortable. It was not until my all black night that I realized that this non-colour was the key to flattering my figure and feeling self-assured.
