Igniting innovation & celebrating design tradition.
Fostering design thinking, the Interior Design Show (IDS) Vancouver believes great design is considerate, responsible and worth it. Connecting talent, story and substance, we create space to ignite innovation and celebrate design tradition.
We are honoured to welcome individual designers, artists, makers and design-centric brands who have come together in Vancouver to showcase their current works, concepts and products. In addition to experiencing installations and features, there will also be opportunities to hear from some of the design world’s most notable and talented personalities and connect with a long list of world-class designers that either call Vancouver home, or call on Vancouver for inspiration.
The 2019 theme is Design DNA.
Youth Programming.

More than a design fair, IDS Vancouver is comprised of community-minded week-long programming that aims to foster design-thinking inclusively in people of all ages, pursuits, genders and ethnicities.
Continuing our successful launch in 2018, we’re proud to present two separate half-day workshops catered to two different age groups (8 to 12 and 10 to 14). With this initiative, we are proud to empower and unleash children’s creativity to support the broadening of our region’s overall design vocabulary and appreciation.
Designing an Eco-Friendly Neighbourhood.
Saturday, September 28, 2019
9:30 AM – 12:30 PM
Vancouver Convention Centre West, Level 1
In this workshop, the young participants (aged 10-14) will be introduced to the concepts of eco-neighbourhoods, density, social diversity mix and sustainability. They will then use their creativity and design thinking to create their own neighborhood and build a scaled model of it. At the end of the workshop, all of the neighborhoods will be joined together to create a larger eco-city.
This workshop is led by Maïa Tarassoff, a French architect and interior design professional, whose works are rooted in energy-efficient buildings.
