Holiday & family events in Vancouver this weekend November 22- 24 2019

Many of the big showstopper holiday events (Canyon Lights, Aurora, Glow, Burnaby Village and The Christmas Market to name a few) open this weekend with special kickoff events. For this-weekend-only events, there’s Nerf Night Out at Kidtropolis, Light up the Village at Park Royal (pictured above) and the epic Surrey Tree Lighting Festival.

Nerf Night Out
Friday November 22 2019 Richmond

Drop your kids off at Kidtropolis for three hours while you enjoy dinner, some early holiday shopping or nothing at all. Nerf games include all the gear and are hosted by a facilitator. Evening also includes pizza, juice and popcorn.
Light up the Village Park Royal
Friday November 22 2019 West Vancouver

Enjoy a ride on a 65-foot ferris wheel, live music, holiday dancing, face painting, balloon twisting, ax throwing, food trucks, a visit with Santa and many more seasonal activities including the stunning lighting of the village.

This is so much more than a tree lighting! It’s a full-blown family festival with a stage of live performances, a holiday craft market, a light tunnel, a fun zone with free amusement park rides, road hockey and more for the kids.

Heritage Christmas at Burnaby Village

Heritage holiday fun opens this weekend and runs all month with sparkling light displays, décor, sing-a-longs, crafts, and special event performances.

Aurora Winter Festival Vancouver

This sparkly installation is an all out ode to Canada complete with Aurora Borealis, glittering Narwhals, moose, reindeer, cherry blossoms, weeping willows a mystical maze, an outdoor skating rink and a candy coloured ferris wheel.

Canyon Lights at Capilano Suspension Bridge
November 22, 2019 – January 26, 2020

Wander across the suspension bridge all lit up with twinkling lights across to the tree top bridges on the other side. Marvel at the world’s tallest living Christmas tree (153 feet tall!), check out the daring light show on the cliff face, decorate cookies, enjoy hot drinks, live music and plenty of photo ops!
Vancouver Christmas Market
November 20 to December 24 2019 Vancouver

Fun to go to with the kids and without, this German-style Christmas Market features a twinkling walk-In Christmas Tree, a Christmas Pyramid, a Kinder Scavenger Hunt & Crafting Huts, Daily visits with Santa, 75 food huts, loads of lights and selfie stops, a Christmas Carousel, hand crafted gifts & treasures, live music by the Gingerbread Men and more.
Glow Christmas
November 21, 2019 – January 5 2020

This glittering display has moved to downtown Vancouver with its zillions of lights including Christmas-themed light gardens, LED swings and hopscotch, a glow-ca-motive, magic castle playground, a musical light tunnel. For food and libations, there are food vendors, real drinks and food trucks. PS: It’s all indoors so no need to pack an umbrella.
Harrison Lights on the Lake Opening Night
Sunday November 23, 2019, Harrison

This annual holiday light display will be glowing up the waterfront of the Harrison lagoon. The lighting party takes place on Saturday with pre-lighting festivities including free hot choc and treats, a roving Sasquatch, and a few other surprises. PS: New this year, a skating rink by the lake!
