Vancouver Mom to Follow: Xanat Guiot of Latin Mom Tips

This week’s Mom to Follow is Xanat Guiot (AKA Shan), a Vancouver blogger and public relations consultant. Originally from Mexico, before becoming a mom and moving to Canada three years ago, she used to work as a PR Account Supervisor for a global agency.
One of her passions is writing, so when she came to Canada, she created LatinMomTips where she shares her journey as a first-time mom living in a new country; this project has also helped her meet other moms and make new friends.
Shan also founded a Facebook support group for Latin moms in BC called ‘Circulo de Familias Latinas en BC’. It started with just 5 members, and now has more than 2,000 members, where not only moms but also dads (even grandparents!), share valuable information, meet and connect.
Most recently, she started an online radio and TV show called ‘Con Acento Latino’ broadcasted by Euforia Spanish Media, where she runs interviews to members of the Latin Community in Canada.
When she is not taking care of her baby boy, she is blogging, preparing radio interviews for her show or volunteering at the YWCA.
Some of Xanat’s Favourite Places!
La Catrina Tacos
When my Mexican soul is craving for buenos tacos, I definitely go to my favorite place in downtown Vancouver: La Catrina, where I usually have 2 ‘al pastor’ and 2 of ‘mole’, the perfect combination for happiness.

Bubble World
Since I discovered bubble teas, I just can’t stop trying new flavours! This is my #1 drink for the summer and my baby boy loves it too, so we are usually sharing one although I think he goes mostly just for the pearls!; when this happen, I’d ask for the the Taro Icecream Slush with pearls BUT half sweat because… you know!

Pho Goodness
Vietnamese food is delicious, and this little place on Davie street is a hidden gem! Their fresh mango salad is perfect for the summer, while in autumn and winter you should go for one of the many types of hot soups they have. My family and I are big fans!

Go Bananas – North Van
When we are feeling like we need to leave our place, we would go to play at the North Van Go Bananas indoor playground. We just love it so much, we even had there my son’s birthday party last year. Definitely a cool place to go with kids on those rainy days in Vancouver.
