Kid-Friendly Vancouver: Little Fox Run

Want to help your children and their friends make a difference? The Terry Fox Foundation is looking for daycares and preschools to host their very own Little Fox Run! Geared towards kids aged three to five, these fun events teach little ones the value of giving. The Little Fox Run also teaches about cancer awareness and gives everyone the chance to fulfill Terry Fox’s legacy through the Marathon of Hope, as we work towards a world without cancer.
Little Fox Run
The Terry Fox National School Run Day is happening on Wednesday, September 24, 2014. Preschools and childcare centres are invited to host a Little Fox Run on that day, or any other day that works for them. Hosting is easy – just plan a short route and have the children participate by walking, running, cycling or wheeling. Get involved as a parent and bring along a stroller or wagon.
Organizers will have control over how they would like to fundraise. One suggestion is to have the children throw donations into “Terry’s Wishing Well” and make wish. Or revive Terry’s dream of having every Canadian (no matter how young) donate $1. You can even map out Terry’s route on a map of Canada, marking the path with donated coins. The options are endless, and the children can learn about money and geography and the value of giving all at the same time.
Did Someone Say Free Stickers?
There is no minimum pledge to participate in a Little Fox Run, and registration is by donation. For donors who contribute more than $20 pledge forms are available for tax purposes. The Terry Fox Foundation is also offering free promotional material to help you in hosting your run. Kids especially love tattoos and stickers, and offering them is a great way to increase participation. There are also posters and other materials available – let the foundation know what you need and they’re happy to collaborate with you.
More than $650 million has already been raised worldwide through Terry Fox Runs. Help your children take part and continue the fight against cancer. For more information, or to register, call 1-888-836-9786.
