Kid-Friendly Vancouver: Alternatives to Spring Break Camp

Are you looking for some kid-friendly Vancouver fun for your wee ones this Spring Break without committing to (or springing for) a week-long Spring Break camp? We have three suggestions for what to do in Vancouver over Spring Break if you’re looking for a day camp alternative.
Kid-Friendly Vancouver Alternatives to Day Camp
Sign Up for a Workshop
If you’re looking for just a few hours of kid-friendly Vancouver fun over Spring Break, consider signing your children up for a workshop. Lots of schools and organizations like Collage Collage, 4Cats and the Lynn Canyon Ecology Centre offer workshops for kids of a variety of ages. Your little ones can spend a couple of hours doing something fun and you can run to the gym or buy groceries without kids in tow. Everyone wins!
Playdates, Playdates, Playdates
One of the magical things about playdates is that whether you’re dropping your kids off with someone else or hosting, your day is automatically much easier. Once kids reach preschool age they have a way of entertaining each other. Setting up playdates while your kids are on their break can keep everyone engaged and happy, and give you a little bit of time to yourself. Set up a playdate swap or two with some mom friends where you take turns hosting, and then everyone can enjoy a little bit of kid-free time without the expense or commitment of a day camp.
Drop-In Activities
If you’re able to take the time off from work, there are lots of kid-friendly Vancouver drop-in activities happening over Spring Break. The Vancouver Art Gallery will be running their family programs all week long during Spring Break. Science World is running special programming exploring the science and technology of travel. The planetarium is running a Spring Break alien search. And of course, you can always go swimming or skating. There’s no end of kid-friendly Vancouver fun you can drop in on over Spring Break.
What about you – what are you doing this Spring Break instead of day camp? We’d love to hear!
