Mom to Follow: Kate Muker

Kate is the proud mama of a beautiful little girl named Indira, and adventuring around town as a family with my husband Sukhi is truly the highlight of her life. Kate lives in the beautiful community of West Vancouver, and she and her family love the mountains, ocean and being in nature. Health is one of her families highest values, and they live by a philosophy of 80/20: 80% of the time, they follow a primal/paleo diet, and 20% of the time, they follow their taste buds and things that bring them joy. Both she and her husband are entrepreneurs with a vision to build a life that allows them to maximize the time they have with their family while creating extraordinary experiences.
Seven of Kate’s favourite spots in and around West Vancouver
Cypress Falls
A few meters in and you’re immersed in a dense forest. After a short walk, you will hear and then see a powerful waterfall. Great for all ages to connect with nature.
At the foot of Woodgreen Place, West Vancouver
John Lawson Park
This newly renovated park has opportunities for little toddlers and bigger kids to explore and have fun. It’s brilliantly located right on the ocean, which is also nourishing for mamas. We always head down to through some walks after we are done at the park.

Edgemont Village Music Together
I love this music program. We’ve been doing it for 18 months, and my daughter really enjoys it. They give you a CD of the songs each semester, and all of the programs no matter where you take it, do the same CDs so you will never learn the same songs until after 10 semesters.

The Bar Method
Fantastic workout, beautiful studio with views of the water and classes on Tuesdays, Wednesdays and Thursdays at 11:00 am with child minding.

The Anchor Eatery
We love frequenting this place for their yummy healthy juices and smoothies. I always ask for easy on the fruits with our juice and easy on the dates with our smoothies. The ladies who run it are super personable and kind.
Eagle Harbour Strong Start Centre
Deanne who runs this program is really awesome. I used to go at least one morning a week, but the challenge I find now is it’s full by 8:30 am, and we can’t get moving the early. I think these programs are especially great for new moms who needs to get out of the house.

Bearfoot Play
Great little play centre for rainy days. My daughter loves the ball room where all the balls shoot up in the room and fall down like rain. There is a great area where you can bring in your own snacks and lunch as well as a little café for moms in need of a latte.
