Four fun (and doable) New Year’s goals for the family

January is a great time to sit down with your family and discuss what you’d like to accomplish in the new year. It can be something big like coming up with a plan to save for a family trip, or something small like choosing new books and spending more time reading together before bed. It’s fun to include the kids and get their input as to what family goals they’d like to set for 2018.
Four fun family New Year’s goals
Try New Things Together
Skate Skiing at Cypress Mountain
If you’re up for a challenge, try skate skiing at Cypress. It’s basically cross country skiing while propelling yourself forward using a movement similar to ice skating. It is recommended that you take a lesson or two to learn the proper technique. Cypress offers clinics for people 16 years and older. You can also book private lessons for younger family members. It’s an incredible way to get the family outside together!
Explore Together
Visit Westminster Pier Park
There are so many incredible places to explore in the Lower Mainland that sometimes you miss things right in your backyard. The Westminster Pier Park is a local gem and perfect for a family outing. Easily accessible by transit, the award winning park is built on equal parts land and water. Spend an afternoon exploring the area, including playgrounds, public art describing New Westminster‘s rich history, the Samson V Maritime Museum, the River Market, historic Columbia Street, Antique Alley and, if you have a four-legged member of your family, the Quayside off-leash dog area.
Make Life a Little Easier

These are cool activities that I can definitely put in my bucket list for this year – especially the exploring and the trying new things part. Well, all of them, actually! Bonding with the family – that’s what I’ve missed last year – busy schedules and all. It’s the memories and the time you spent with your family especially your kids that matter most, not even money can buy. Thanks Amy!
