Step up and join the Stairclimb for Clean Air

Raise your hand if you’ve ever rushed your child to emerg with a hacking cough, croup or an asthma attack feeling scared and small. It’s the stuff of nightmares. When things are working well, breathing is normal and natural, and we barely think about it. When our lungs (or those of our kids) are congested or damaged it’s constantly top of mind.
Fact: 1 in 5 British Columbians are affected by lung disease, and 13% of children have asthma
The good news is, our medical system takes this seriously. Thanks to organizations like the BC Lung Association, our breath-challenged loved ones can get the help they need. So why not give your own lungs (and thighs) a workout by climbing the Wall Centre’s over 700 stairs at the BC Lung Association’s Climb the Wall: the Stairclimb for Clean Air fundraiser on February 18th?
This family-friendly event is a fun athletic challenge for those with a fitness bent and a great way to keep that new Year’s resolution going! All fitness levels are welcome and encouraged, and depending on your fitness level the 48-story (739 step) stair climb to the top of the Sheraton Wall Centre can be done in what seems like an impossibly short time frame, of apparently eight to 20 minutes (huff, puff).
If the kids aren’t up for the climb, there will be loads of fun activities for the entire family from colouring to jumping on trampolines! In fact, a few of our favourite orgs will be on-hand including Springfree trampoline and Kidtropolis so you know this will really be fun!
All proceeds go towards the BC Lung Association’s fight against lung disease, and each registrant must raise at least $125 to participate. Talk about a great way to give back to the community and be a role model for your children by supporting the BC Lung Association.

BREATHING. It’s what unites us. It’s what inspires us. And it’s what keeps our community of physicians, scientists, clinicians, educators, administrators, volunteers and donors so committed— whether it’s searching for cures to lung diseases, teaching kids about the dangers of tobacco, or fighting for clean air. The BC Lung Association is leading the way to breathing breakthroughs through research, policies and programs.
