Best of Vancouver: Skiing and Snowboarding with Kids Results

At the end of November we launched a Best of Vancouver poll, asking you which Vancouver mountain is the best for kids. When you’re going skiing and snowboarding with little ones, you have different considerations than when you’re going solo. You want family-friendly skiing lessons, camps and programs. You want your children to have a safe space to learn. And you have to think about things like hauling gear for a whole family. How do you find the best local mountain? One great way is to ask other Vancouver moms for their recommendations, which is just what we did with this Best of Vancouver search.
Best of Vancouver: Skiing and Snowboarding
We are very lucky to have three great local mountains to choose from: Cypress Mountain, Grouse Mountain and Mount Seymour. While they’re all on the North Shore, each one offers something slightly different. This begs the question – which one deserves the Best of Vancouver title if you’re going skiing and snowboarding with children? The results are in!
Grouse Mountain is the Winner!
Grouse Mountain takes the Best of Vancouver title for skiing and snowboarding with kids. Of course, the mountain offers a whole lot more in the way of snowy fun than skiing and snowboarding. There’s snowshoeing, skating, Santa’s Workshop, live reindeer and everything else at the Peak of Christmas. While a ticket up the mountain to take in all it has to offer isn’t cheap, with an annual Local’s Pass you can visit all year round, defraying the cost.
Seymour and Cypress
Mount Seymour took second-place honours in our Best of Vancouver search, with 33% of the vote. Cypress came third, with 11%. Of course, when it comes to skiing and snowboarding with kids, you know your family best. Taking the time to visit all the local mountains, and seeing what they have to offer you, may be your best bet when it comes to finding your own go-to spot for some winter fun in the city.
What do you think – is Grouse really the best local mountain for kids? Leave us a reply and share your thoughts.
