You Say Where You Birthday Party

We had a fabulous discussion on Facebook.

Eva Akow Taylor shares, “We have had parties both at home and outside places. It just depends what we decide to do each time. My eldest turns 10 in a few weeks and she is having an ocean themed party at home this year. Last year she had it at our local pool. We have also had past parties at The Great Escape and Michaels. My six year old had a Hello Kitty Party at home. We might do a party somewhere else for her this year.”

Nancy Duck Hildebrand likes, “Fort Langley National Historic Site – fun gold rush program, and we want to try the high tea party one.”

Tami Murray Cline says, “We just held our seven year old’s party at Artspace for Children. It was the best party we’ve thrown and the kids and parents are still talking about it.”

Ashley Cee shares, “Love 4Cats for birthdays!!”

Skin Health Laser & Medi Spa Kits agrees, “4Cats is great!”

Ashley Robinson weighs in with, “JUMP! Gymnastics is where we held my two year old’s birthday party.”

Shelly Lynn Nellis says, “At home! having a child with multiple severe food allergies it’s the safest place for us.”

Britt Baxter-Bellas knows that home parties are not for her. “Every year we have my son’s birthday somewhere other than home. It makes things easy, there is always a time limit and when you done you can go home and relax. We have had birthdays at Phoenix Gymnastics, Burnaby Central Railway, and our local ice rink. They were all fabulous!”

Trish Kit Uppal agrees, “Someplace else – no pre and post clean up stress!”

Carolyn Leanne Béchard likes to head outdoors. “Parks or parents’ backyard!”

Jag Mundi shares, “Just had my twin boys’ second birthday at the Creekside Community Centre gym – all the children had a great time.”

Heather Van Mil has a plan. “Had my daughter’s second, third and fourth birthdays at Gymboree! Will do younger daughters first through fourth there as well. For year five this year we’re considering Build-a-Bear or the Hair Loft on Granville Island.”

Heather Carrell kept things simple. “For my little one’s first birthday we had a picnic at a local park.”

Amber Krause Strocel shares, “I’ve had some surprisingly good experiences with parties at home – especially for my son, whose birthday’s in August. Everyone heads outside, it’s very chill, and I don’t need to cart anything around.”

FactoryGlobal.com knows how to wow kids, saying, “In a candy store!”

Jenny Stewart said she was getting some great ideas from the Facebook thread. She added, “As a Mom of four I’m always looking for new places! We are in an apartment so home parties are hard. We’ve done park parties, community centre, Cineplex parties. I’m planning my nine year old son’s party now and I’m liking the Fort Langley idea!”

Over on Twitter @Nicole013 has hit a lucky streak. She says she holds parties, “Somewhere else. Especially when I keep winning birthday parties. Otherwise, your local community centre is a good choice.”

@erin_vb shares, “4Cats Art Studio, Evergreen Cultural Centre are our faves.”

And last but not least, @runmom262 said she held her daughter’s fifth birthday party at the, “Go Karts in Richmond! The kids love it! Ride in the GoKart with a parent two times.”

What about you? Where is your favourite place to hold a child’s birthday party – at home, or someplace else? We want to hear your ideas!

  • My boys love soccer so they both have had their parties at Sportstown in Richmond. It’s a artificial turf field that is indoors with a party room and a viewing area for the parents! It’s great! Ask for Glen!
