Giveaway: Green the PNE With Green Vancity
The Fair at the PNE is coming to town, and the folks at Vancity are celebrating. Their member day is happening on Wednesday, August 27, 2014 from 11:00am – 11:00pm. Vancity members can bring a guest and explore The Fair at the PNE on Vancity Member Day for $5 each. Just present your Vancity MEMBER CARD® debit card or Vancity enviro™ Visa* (or other form of membership verification) at The PNE, to save $11 on adult admission. While you’re there drop by the Vancity Eco Zone to find out how Vancity is supporting the PNE on their journey of going green. Get fun facts and helpful tips on how you can go green at home through their fun and interactive activities.
Zero Waste Day at the PNE
Vancity is working hard to improve the well-being of their members and communities, which includes living more sustainably. One way they’re doing that is by working to make Vancity Member Day at the PNE a Zero Waste Day. There are a lot of ways they’re helping to accomplish that. For instance, the PNE will be cowpowered, the PNE will have staffed waste sorting stations, a new policy to ban Styrofoam and plastic cutlery to encourage vendors to use biodegradable food packaging, and a light bulb eater to recycle burnt-out bulbs, among other initiatives. You can help out by cycling or taking transit to the PNE, bringing your reusable water bottle, disposing of waste responsibly and dropping by Vancity’s Eco Zone.
To help your own efforts to live more sustainably, we’re teaming up with Vancity for a fabulous giveaway, valued at $200. It includes a prize pack from The Soap Dispensary containing bamboo utensil sets, sandwich bags, mason jar mugs and lids, stainless steel straws, a canvas lunch bag and a large porcelain storage box.
