Happy Valentine’s Day! In honour of the occasion, we’re excited to share a podcast today with Allison Braun, a.k.a. The Bedroom Joyologist. Allison is dedicated to “helping women get their sexy on in and out of the bedroom”. She seemed like the perfect person to speak with about bringing a little spice back to your relationship.

When you’re a busy mom, your relationship with your partner often takes a backseat to everything else you have to do. We’ve all been there. When you’re sleep-deprived and covered in spit-up, or when you’re juggling work and family and spending all your free time driving your kids to dance class and soccer and playdates, you’re not exactly feeling amorous. Being a parent is exhausting. By the same token, though, many of us would love to bring the sexy back, if only we had the time and energy. During our podcast Allison offers some great, practical tips for re-kindling the romance.

Allison suggests starting in small, playful ways, when you’re looking to re-connect with your partner. You probably don’t have two hours of free time every day to spend in the bedroom. But if you can set aside some time once a week, or even once every couple of weeks, you can start to re-connect with that part of yourself. Scheduling may not sound like much fun, but when you’re a parent you need to be practical. Sometimes that means letting go of spontaneity in favour of spending more time with your sweetie.

During the podcast Allison told us how she got the title “The Bedroom Joyologist”. She talked about the importance of being playful, and explained how we can bring that sexy, “juicy” energy into our whole lives. If you’re looking for some tangible, real ideas for a more romantic Valentine’s Day (or any day), you’ll want to take the time to listen to our podcast. But before you do, just one word of warning: you’ll want to wait until the kids are out of earshot for this one.
