Podcast: Talking Mindfulness with Dr. Linda Turner

We all know that we should make wellness a priority. All month long we’ve been giving you tips about healthy eating, getting in shape, meditating and more. While we fervently believe that every mom deserves to spend time on her own health and well-being, we also know that it’s easier said than done. We’re moms, too, after all. We understand that sometimes in the rush of work and family and volunteering for the PAC and making time for your friends and everything else that you have on your plate, there just isn’t a whole lot left over. That’s why we’re excited to share a podcast with Dr. Linda Turner, who shares a simple technique you can use to improve your wellness anytime, anywhere.

Linda will be speaking about mindfulness at the Wellness Show, happening at the Vancouver Convention Centre East from February 15-17, 2013. If you want to make your own wellness more of a priority, stopping by the show is what to do in Vancouver. You can learn about fitness, healthy eating, kids’ wellness, pet wellness and more. There are also demos, workshops and presentations, so you can get a little more in-depth. Tickets are $16.00 for adults, and $6.00 for kids aged six to fifteen (kids five and under are free). Or you can buy a family pass for two adults and two kids for $35.00.

During our podcast Linda talked about mindfulness based stress reduction. She explained what it is, and outlined some simple techniques for creating more mindfulness. She also talked about the many proven wellness benefits that come with being more mindful. Did you know you can literally change your brain? And, what’s more, you can do it while you’re enjoying a walk with your kids or washing the dishes. You don’t need a lot of time and space to be more mindful. That’s pretty powerful stuff.

Linda also talked about the Wellness Show, and what you might expect to find there.
