Favourite Things For Your Kids
My children love books and enjoy the Puntamayo CDs that we check out from the library. They also respond strongly to the simple wooden toys that come out of Japan. You can sometimes find them at Japanese two dollar stores in Vancouver like Utsuwa-No-Yakata at Aberdeen Mall.
Favourite Thing For You
I love my recent purchase of a red Roots purse. It’s Canadian, provides a pop of colour to my outfits and helps me feel dressed up when I’m dashing about town.
Favourite Thing For Work
I use Doteasy to publish my website. They are a local company and provide excellent customer support.
Favourite Place in Vancouver
When it’s a dreary day and we’re not sure what to do, we head over the Lion’s Gate Bridge to Dundarave and walk along the Ambleside Seawall. For children there is a lovely, quiet beach just south of Dundarave with a playground.
Favourite Birthday Gift Idea
For me: a little red packet with “lucky money” is always appreciated. My favourite place to spend my lucky money is HP3 in Kerrisdale.
For children: I’ve developed a tradition of buying children stuffed moose. My last purchase was the adorable BC Children’ Hospital Foundation CIBC moose.
Favourite Kids Book
An all time favourite is We’re Going on a Bear Hunt. The delicate water colour illustrations and “we’re going on an adventure” story appeal to children. For the older child, I also recommend The Wizard of Oz illustrated by Charles Santore. The illustrations are gorgeous.
Favourite Restaurant
I highly recommend the Hurricane Grill in N. False Creek (Yaletown) primarily because they are so open and accepting of children. You can have a nice, well presented and tasty meal and still feel welcome as a family.
